Now look what you’ve done – I feel compelled to tune into the web cam on New Years Eve to see how it goes – given that over the last 300 years, much of Gävle has been destroyed by fire on three occasions the locals have form – but I’m rooting for the Goat and the committee.

Lovely story..forwarding it to a Swedish friend. And I love that somewhere in this world, in this day and age, that there is a “goat committee”, and it is wise.

Merry Christmas and prosperous new year, Brian. This story makes me think of Wile E Coyote and the Roadrunner. What bizarre and innovative ways can the goat be destroyed and what kind of bizarre defense can be constructed to save the Straw beast.

This is so fantastic. I couldn’t figure out which goat destroyer I loved more.... the Clevelander (fellow Ohioan!!!)??... the DoS hacking attack? ... surely my vote has to go with the Santa /gingerbread men with flaming arrows. God bless the goat committee and all their valiant efforts. Happy Christmas to all!

I just checked out the live cam (120 viewers at the moment) and I’ll check again over the next few days. That goat is a magnificent structure, especially beautiful at night! Thank you, Brian, for sharing the story and reminding us that we are indeed strange creatures.
