Thanks for the reminder about One Life...I remember seeing the video of the award and all the descendants, but now I need to go back and see the film....

And Lupin we are watching now....just came across it. I love how he gets away with things and just disappears!

'The time traveller's guide to Medieval England' by Ian Mortimer is well worth a read.

Does anybody but me find it ironic that about forty years ago, we started calling the current era “The Post-Modern” world?

Can’t wait to watch One Life. Missed it the first time around. Appreciate the reminder.

Set in the Rio de la Plata region of South America, the film is very loosely based on the events surrounding the Guaraní War of 1756.

Yes, I also consider “The Mission” a monumental work. There is also an article, look online, that tells about the source material for that film. Along with the tribe (who still play violins) a whole trove of Spanish music by an unknown composer of the period was found. It might be possible that the arts can transcend the harm done by cultural dominance and find a whole new audience to speak to?

I think Brian is talking about a different film, confusingly also called 'The Mission'. But yes, the original one set in Paraguay, is amazing.
