I watched the Detectorists based on your recommendation and was not disappointed, so I'm adding Ludwig to the lineup now! Thanks for the much needed break from all the horrors of living these days.
What marvelous miscellany! Thanks for sharing these ('tho I did skip the parts that were even slightly connected to the American presidential election, because "ain't nobody got time for that!").
per your suggestion, i'm watching/binging bbc's peep show on britbox. i luv it. yes, david mitchell hilarious, same with robert webb. smart, coy production with the stream of conciousness going all the time, the pov shots (the kissing, for example) are fun. total comedic entertainment. brain food.
i cannot see ludwig, here in usa. if you know a way for me to see it, please pass to me. lastly, i wonder if you strongly identify with the david mitchell peep show character, mark corrigan? no..mark corrigan wining all the time, and so self-centered. i don't picture you that way, at all. but david mitchell is fun to watch. luv peep show.
as always, i really enjoy your investigative journalism, and your thought pieces. keep going! i'm reading. thinking.
On the subject of freeloaders I was reading a review in the Wall Street journal about a book written by a astrophysicist about what constitutes life on other planets. And the review made a interesting point. Are parasites a form of life? Without a host a parasite wouldn’t exist.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. The video of combat ready octopuses (not octopi, I looked it up) was a special treat. I forwarded it to my pregnant daughter, who is also stressing out about the election! For me, it is likely a better solution than mushrooms!
🤣 “For this reason, unicellular organisms rarely secure the presidency.”

Thank you Brian. Just what I needed this morning. lol
See my smile and hear me chuckle. Excellent brain food.

I also thought 'Ludwig' was excellent.
His book 'Unruly: A history of England's Kings and Queens' is also worth a look.

how are you?

There is a really interesting podcast on parasites at:

Maybe don't listen to it over dinner though!

Perfect brain food. 😁
Aaargh… I can’t find Ludwig. I already subscribe to Britbox, Acorn, have BBC Sounds and iPlayer. What am I missing?
It’s on iPlayer in the UK. Not sure where to get it outside the UK!
Yep. I’m in the US (much to my chagrin). Thanks for the reply.
